Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 26, 2026

1. Data Collection

Ethernet Menu Monitor ("the App") is designed with your privacy as the absolute highest priority. Unlike many other applications, we believe that your network data and usage patterns belong to you. The App does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal data, network traffic, or browsing history.

2. External Network Services

Exactly two external services are accessed when using the app, and neither of them receives any personal data:

  • Public IP Address (api.ipify.org): We send a standard HTTP GET request to this robust, open-source API to echo back your public IP. No personal headers, tracking IDs, or location data are ever sent.
  • Latency (Ping) Measurement (Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 at Port 53): To safely measure internet latency without firing raw ICMP "pings" (which macOS sometimes restricts), the App uses Apple's native NWConnection to attempt a lightning-fast TCP connection. It simply opens a socket to Cloudflare's primary global DNS server, starts a stopwatch, and closes the connection the exact millisecond it succeeds. Absolutely no data payloads or website lookups are transmitted.

3. Local On-Device Processing

Everything else in the App is processed completely internally on your Mac hardware. Your Upload/Download Speeds are polled locally from the Mac kernel (ifaddrs). Your Local IP, MAC Address, and Interface Name are pulled directly from the Mac's hardware networking stack. VPN Detection is identified strictly locally by checking if traffic is routing through a Universal TUN (utun) virtual interface. Your network data never leaves your computer.

4. Cloud and Analytics

The App does not use any third-party analytics SDKs, crash reporters, or tracking frameworks. Your usage data remains entirely on your device and is never uploaded to any remote server or cloud service.

5. In-App Purchases

The App uses Apple's native StoreKit to manage the "Pro" upgrade. All payment processing, receipt validation, and purchase history are handled entirely by Apple. We do not have access to your payment information.
